Exterior Color Trends
Chances are, as a homeowner, you’ve thought to yourself more than once, that you need to paint your house. But, it’s probably been pushed to the back of your mind quite a few times over the past few years. This doesn’t seem like a huge deal in terms of waiting, but honestly, the more you wait, the more time that passes, the worst the paint job gets and the more time and money it’s going to cost down the line when you actually DO decide to fix it! For example, when you probably looked at it a few years ago, it probably only need a few fix it, and a new fresh coat of paint, but now years later, you are realizing more and more how big of a job this is going to be; you’re going to need to scrape the old stuff off, prime the wood, fix the wood, etc. One of the reasons why homeowners don’t fix something right away, such as painting their house, is because they cannot afford it or they cannot figure out what colors to choose from. Well, I hope I hope put your mind at ease and help you figure out both "issues" so that you can have a beautifully painted house, for a budget you can afford, and it’s going to look amazing, maybe even more so than it did in the past!
Painting It Yourself Vs. Hiring Someone
This is like comparing apples to oranges. On one hand it might be cheaper to do it yourself, BUT you need to worry about things like; safety, cleanup, painting the house correctly, etc. On the other hand, if you hire someone to do it, it might cost a little more but you have peace of mind in knowing that they are a professional and that they did it correctly the first time around. Hiring a top house painter in Long Island is something that many homeowners opt in for, because they know that as a professional painter, they will have all the right tools on hand with them, they will do all of the set up like taping up windows so they don’t get painted, painting the correct "parts" of the house and doing so correctly, etc. A house painter will also deal with clean up so you won’t have to. For most homeowners, this is by far the best option for them, because they don’t want to have to worry about it; rather they would rather go on living life knowing that someone else is doing this time consuming service for them. Obviously though, this is going to depend on your situation and what you can afford.
/Right Colors for Your Home
One of the most important things to remember' just because it’s a trend, doesn’t mean it’s going to be right for your home, location, personality, etc. I know people that live on trends. New $900 iPhone? Bought it. New car that runs on potatoes? Bought it. New coffee machine that makes coffee via Wi-Fi on your Android? Bought it. That’s great and all, but sometimes people need to realize that just because something is trendy, doesn’t automatically mean its right for you. I just saw an article on door painting for instance, the color: yellow. I could never paint my door yellow, I don’t care if Angelina Jolie and Brad Pit did it, I just couldn’t bring myself to do it because it’s not my favorite color, it wouldn’t look good on my house or neighborhood. Just because something is trending or popular doesn’t mean you always should buy it. Instead, take a look at what colors or hues you like, what style of home you have, etc. For example, you probably would never find a yellow, orange or purple door on a modern house. Instead you would find black, tan, white or gray. On a traditional home, you would most likely never see a hot pink door, orange or even bright green!
Colors to Consider
If you want to travel back 4 years ago when you first painted your house and you want to do the same boring colors again - fine. But, just know that picking out colors for your home is actually kind of fun and interesting. In fact, I love doing it! Maybe it’s time for a change. Maybe it’s time you pick some new color schemes out and paint everything different; the body, accents, trim, etc. Change is a good thing after all and by the way, if it’s been that long since you last painted your house, some of those paints may not even be available anymore. Some of them could be discontinued! In that case, you would have no other choice! Here are a few paint schemes right off the bat, to help you consider a few ideas and maybe bring some inspiration your way.
